Tommee Tippee Feeding Review
Price: $9.00 List | $4.11 each (in 4-pack) at Amazon
Pros: Assemble/clean, few parts, natural latch, price
Cons: Plastic, some feeding leaks
Bottom line: Budget friendly bottle that is easy to use, clean, & latch
The Tommee Tippee feeding bottle is a nice little bottle that is easy to use and easy to hold for parents and little ones. We like the latch friendly nipple with the vent system that limits air ingestion. We like the wide mouth body that is easy to clean, fill, and assemble. While this bottle is made of plastic and might be hard to warm in most bottle warmers, we still think it brings a lot to the table for such a friendly price that it easily won our Best Value award and a place among the favorites for our little testers.

Our Analysis and Hands-on Test Results
The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottle is BPA free and designed to promote easier feedings. The compact shape of the bottle allows for a natural feeding position and with three different holding options. This nipple was designed with breastfeeding experts to mimic the breast's natural flex, stretch, and movement. It is soft silicone that feels like skin with a super sensitive valve that eliminates excessive air flow, so baby ingests less air and encourages baby's intuitive feeding action. The bottles and nipples are easy to clean and fill with a wide opening, and they are microwave and dishwasher safe.
With a second-place score, it is clear why the Tommee earned an award as shown in this comparison chart of the overall scores for products in this review.
The sections below include information on what we like and dislike about the Tommee and how it compares to the competition. The testing results determined the overall score.
The Tommee Tippee is a great budget-friendly bottle that has a lot of very likable attributes. The most notable being no noticeable leakage from the separate bottle parts during feeding or transportation. We also didn't see any leaking from the valve, and there is only minimal leaking and dribbling from baby's mouth thanks to the nipple designs diameter that mimics mother's breast. This kind of leaking is similar to leaking that occurs when a baby breastfeeds as well.
We also like the nipple on this bottle. It is large and similar to the breast which makes for an easy transition from breastfeeding and back again. The nipples didn't collapse while feeding thanks to being slightly harder and firmer than most of the competition.
The design of this bottle is wide and easy to clean. It could even be cleaned with a sponge or towel if you don't have a bottle brush handy. It has only three parts and the shallow design that means you can reach the bottom with your hand. The bottle is easy to assemble with a body, nipple, and collar that work well together and easy to attach in your sleep. The bottle and all its parts can be boiled, microwaved, and steam sterilized as needed.
This bottle excels at ease of use and is one that will likely please parents as well as a baby. The bottle design is compact and contoured, so it is easy to hold and grip. It is very lightweight and feels sturdy and durable with no tipping despite its top heavy end. It has a minimal number of parts so there is little that can go wrong, though you do want to check the valve regularly to ensure it is working properly. The measurements are clearly marked on the outside and are easy to read. This bottle is easy to carry and doesn't take up a lot of space or add a lot of weight to your diaper bag.
We like the overall value of this bottle as well; it is the cheapest option in the group, and it is the easiest to use.
The dislikes for the Tippee are few, but they are something to consider depending on your needs and goals. The first dislike is the flow rate of the nipples is faster than comparable nipples in this review. It isn't a deal breaker, but it does mean you might want to choose a slower rate nipple than you think you want. If your baby is frustrated, you can always go to a faster flow.
Because the bottle is plastic, it is a little harder to clean than glass. While the mouth is large and easy to clean by hand, the milk residue can stick to the inside. Some of the residues may get stuck in the wide part just below the nipple as well. The plastic will also show more wear over time, and the volume markings will disappear after repeated washings.
We also disliked that the shape of the nipple causes the last remnants of milk to get trapped in the wide area just below the nipple and can be difficult to get the last of the milk out. The bottle needs to be almost entirely upside down to get the milk out of the nipple. We also found in our tests that baby can block the vent with their mouth or hands while feeding because of its location on the nipple. While it didn't happen all the time it was frustrating for some younger babies to manage before they attempted to shift the bottle. The short and compact shape of the bottle also prevents this option from being used in most if not all bottle warmers.
This bottle scored poorly for eco-health because it is plastic and made in China. For more information on why we aren't huge fans of plastics, you can read our article Are Plastics Safe for Baby Bottles and Sippy Cups?.
Tommee Tippee feeding bottle is a very nice little bottle with a small price. It came in second place overall in our review and performed well enough to win our Best Value award. This bottle is easy to assemble and clean, comes with an easy latch anti-colic vented nipple made of silicone and is easy to hold and grip. We liked that it didn't leak, has few parts, transports well, and is well liked by our baby testers. Though it's plastic and the markings have a tendency to wear off we think the downsides are minor compared to what you get for such an economical price. The best part is if you like the nipple and the design of the bottle, you can always opt for the glass variety for a winning combination that is eco-health conscious.
Other Versions and Accessories
Tommee Tippee makes this same type of bottle in a glass version with the same nipple and covers called the Glass Feeding Bottle. We think it is likely a good option for parents who'd rather have a glass bottle instead of a plastic one. While we didn't review this bottle, we feel that the plastic version scored so well that the glass version is likely to perform in a similar fashion with the benefit of glass.
Tommee Tippee makes some accessories that will make using this bottle more enjoyable including bottle brushes, formula dispenser, bottle bags, storage lids, breast pump adapters, and the Tommee Tippee Pump and Go Bottle and Pouch Warmer.
