The Skinny

Huggies Little Snugglers are a cozy, comfortable diaper with soft fabric inside and skin-friendly closure tabs and motion points. This diaper is well-constructed and feels durable enough to put up with whatever baby dishes out, which is somewhat difficult to obtain while staying comfortable. This diaper also performed well in our tests for leakage with no leaking in our tests and few leaks reported by users on Amazon. Unfortunately, this diaper is not great at absorbing liquids which are arguably the most important function of any diaper. Poor results in absorption tests resulted in a lower overall score and a diaper we don't recommend.

Performance Comparison

This comparison chart provides the overall scores for each diaper tested in this review. The Snugglers did not score well and came in the bottom third of products.

The information below includes how the Snugglers performed during testing and what we liked and disliked about the diapers.

The closure tabs and motion points on the Little Snugglers are soft compared to the competition and unlikely to irritate sensitive skin.

Likes

The best thing about this diaper is it has fewer leaks and performed well in our tests for leaks with little to no mock urine escaping the diaper. In addition, Amazon users also report fewer leaks with this diaper in real world use. This resulted in the Snugglers earning an 8 of 10 for leakage, which is the highest score for leaks in this review.

Notice the leakage pan for the Snugglers is dry but the absorption paper is soaked through across the span of the paper.

We also like how cozy and comfortable this diaper feels compared to the competition. In fact, it only scored one point below the high with an 8 of 10 for comfort. The fabric is soft, but more importantly, it has soft motion points where baby's joint will move and it has tab closures that aren't rough or poky like some of the competing diapers we tested. This diaper also scored above average for durability which is often hard to do while remaining comfortable.

The Little Snugglers were no match for 100ml of mock urine in our tests for diaper absorption. This diaper scored only 2 of 10 for this test.

Dislikes

Unfortunately, there is more to dislike than like for this product. The most disappointing test results were for absorption where the Snugglers earned only 2 of 10 for its ability to absorb liquids and trap them inside the diaper away from baby's skin. In our tests for absorption, the Snugglers had more moisture transfer to the test paper than most of the competition with only two other diapers scoring lower than the Snugglers. We think above all a diaper should absorb what baby dishes out and help prevent it from sitting against baby's skin to help prevent skin irritation and possible diaper rash.

We dislike the lack of transparency from Huggies on all their diapers. While the Huggies website says the Little Snugglers are fragrance and lotion free, it does not say much else about what the diaper is made of or whether or not is it free of other known allergens like chlorine, dyes, or latex. In general, the website fails to offer any disclosure on ingredients or what it is made of or what it lacks, which is something we think all manufacturers should offer to parents so they can make an informed decision.

While the Snugglers are super soft we don't like that Huggies doesn't offer anything in the way of material or content disclosure for these diapers which prevent parents from making informed decisions.

We also dislike that Huggies isn't making any effort to improve the eco-friendliness of this diaper. While any disposable diaper isn't ideal for the environment, some brands are making choices that increase the potential for biodegradability or they are using materials that are renewable like bamboo or corn SAP. Little Snugglers only scored a 1 of 10 for eco-friendliness.

Conclusion

Huggies Little Snugglers are a comfortable and durable diaper that scored well in our tests for leakage, which is half the battle in finding a great diaper for baby. Unfortunately, this diaper struggled to keep moisture locked away in its core which could lead to skin irritation, diaper rash, or moist clothing yours and baby's). This means that even though these diapers are comfy when dry and don't leak as much as the competition, they don't provide enough absorption to really do the trick or justify the price.
